A total of 5,337 people in Norway were infected with the coronavirus last week. That is the highest number of new infection cases registered in a week since the pandemic started.

“Now we are setting records none of us want to set,” Minister of Health Bent Høie said at the government’s press conference on the corona situation on Wednesday.

“In the last 24 hours, 1,156 corona infection cases were registered in Norway, and we are in the third wave. The FHI’s weekly report registered 5,337 new infection cases last week. That is the highest number in a week since the pandemic started,” Høie said.

On Wednesday, 226 corona-infected patients were admitted to hospitals in Norway. That is an increase of two patients from the day before.

A total of 451,308 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of the corona vaccine in Norway, the FHI’s statistics show on Wednesday. Furthermore, 257,851 people received the second dose.
