Progress Party (FRP) leader Sylvi Listhaug is critical of the government’s overall handling of the reopening of Norwegian society.

“If what the media is sharing is correct, it is complete chaos. This is not a reopening plan. This is reopening chaos. Obviously, it should have been better planned,” Listhaug said.

She believes that the government has long known that Norway would reopen and have planned better.

On Friday at 3 PM, the police will start checking the corona certificate at the border. At the same time, the government is changing the quarantine rules so that those who can document that they have been fully vaccinated or have had coronavirus in the last six months will be exempt from entry quarantine.

Longer queues

This will allow around 1.3 million Norwegians to travel abroad without being quarantined when returning to Norway. Both the police and Avinor warn of possible queues at airports.

In her criticism of the government, Listhaug pointed out technical problems with corona certificates, the danger of insufficient testing capacity in border municipalities, and long waiting times at the Norwegian Directorate of Health’s information telephone.

She believes that the government must ensure that the corona certificate is accessible to all, including non-digitally competent elderly Norwegians.
