Immigration and Integration Minister Sylvi Listhaug denies that she creates increased fear among the population with her statements on asylum policy.
The newspaper Aftenposten writes Saturday that Listhaug nearly every week since she became immigration and integration minister in December has expressed fears of various aspects of the immigration.
Asked by the newspaper whether her statements can contribute to increased fear among the population, responding the Immigration Minister:
– I do not think so. I think many people have the same approach to this.
– It is a realistic approach to the situation. There are no quick-fix solutions to integration, says the minister,
She believes there is every reason to think long term when it comes to immigration.
– I think that if we can not get things under control and tens of thousands of people are coming to Norway year after year after year after year, we will be facing major challenges if we do not succeed in this. But I have plans for us to succeed, Listhaug.says
