The Norwegian NATO soldiers in Lithuania are sending a very important message, according to the country’s Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis.

On Friday, Anniken Huitfeldt visited her Lithuanian colleague.

At a press conference, Landsbergis said that the soldiers send a very important message and that they strengthen the ties between Norway and Lithuania.

“Norway is an exceptionally good friend and ally of Lithuania and the Baltic countries,” he noted.

The number of Norwegian soldiers in the country increased a few days after Russia began its invasion of Ukraine. Landsbergis did not want to answer directly whether the number should be increased further but emphasized that we all live in a different reality after Russia’s invasion.

He said that more soldiers and more equipment may be needed, but that the most important thing is a new approach that is proportionate to the new situation.
