Long boat queues in Oslo due to nice weather: Ruter asks people to choose less busy travel times

The nice weather has lured Oslo residents out of their homes, and many want to go to the islands in the Oslo Fjord. Ruter is now asking people to choose alternative travel times and locations.

“It seems that many want to go out in the nice weather. Many people travel via the island boats, and it creates long waiting times,” press officer Øystein Dahl Johansen in Ruter told news bureau NTB.

He says that the public transport company has placed security guards on the piers where the boats leave from. Limits have been set for how many people can be on board at a time. This creates queues at the quays.

“Show consideration”

Ruter also expects a lot of people on the beaches at Huk on Bygdøy on Saturday. There, too, they will have guards to ensure that infection control rules are maintained.

“The recommendation to people is to keep their distance, show consideration, and travel to less busy places and at less busy times,” Johansen added.

“The islands and Huk are busy areas. There are many other nice areas as well,” he emphasized.

The press officer encourages those who travel by bus to use the seats on the bus.

“It is important that people pay attention to compliance with infection control,” he concluded.
