Local authorities in Lørenskog decided at an emergency meeting on Monday to introduce even stricter infection control measures at construction sites in the municipality.

“I think this will be good for maintaining control and the work related to infection tracing,” Knut Jan Nielsen (AP) said at the meeting, according to newspaper Romerikes Blad.

Among other things, the employer must ensure that there is at least two meters distance between people on the construction site.

When delivering goods, the distance requirements must also be complied with by personnel who deliver the goods.

When there is a danger that the distance requirement cannot be complied with, a face mask must be used, the new measures state.

Fines and imprisonment

In addition, the number of people present on the construction site shall be limited to the number of people absolutely necessary for the operation.

Intentional or grossly negligent violation of the regulations’ provisions can be punished by fines or imprisonment for up to six months.

In early April, two construction sites in Ullensaker were closed, and many cases of infection in several municipalities in Romerike were linked to these outbreaks. Recently, there have been several outbreaks of infection on construction sites in Lørenskog.

Lørenskog is one of the 20 municipalities that must uphold the A level of measures until April 25.
