Lots of snow, landslides and flooding are in store

Over large parts of the country, there may be a lot of snow falling in the mountains in the next few days. In Western Norway, warnings of landslides and floods as a result of heavy rainfall.

A lot of snow is expected in the mountains in southern Norway from Thursday evening, while snow can fall from 500 to 800 meters in both Trøndelag, Nordland and Troms on Friday.

The meteorologists have sent out yellow hazard warnings.

In Western Norway, heavy showers may lead to landslides and floods. The danger increases from Thursday afternoon in Hordaland, Sogn and Fjordane and parts of Møre og Romsdal.

Up to 50 to 80 millimeters of rainfall is expected in one day. Locally, there can be between 30 and 50 millimeters of rain in six hours.

The groundwater level and the water saturation level in the ground are sometimes high, warns NVE on the alert service varsom.no.

NVE has sent out yellow hazard warning.
