The Socialist Left Party (SV) will be tough in the government negotiations, party leader Audun Lysbakken promised on Tuesday. He believes the majority must make sure to give voters a new government.

“The SV will be tough during negotiation, and that’s how it must be. That is our job,” Lysbakken said.

He highlighted several issues that will be important to the party in the coming negotiations.

“Do we have a credible policy to create a turning point that reduces the differences (in Norwegian society)? And do we have a credible policy to achieve Norway’s climate goals and properly launch the green transition? That is crucial,” he said.

There is great tension associated with the forthcoming government negotiations. The SV prefers a government consisting of the Labor Party, the Center Party, and the Socialist Left Party. However, the SP does not want to include the SV in the government.

“Everyone who has voted for a new government should now be heard and included in the basis for what will happen now,” Lysbakken said, adding that the SV is more than prepared to join SP’s fight against centralization.
