Man accused of killing his dog

A man in his 50’s has been accused for killing his own dog by stabbing it repeatedly with a sharp object.

The incident is said to have occurred at a private address in Førde, Sunnfjord in winter. According to the indictment, the man used a “knife, scissors, or another sharp object”.

This man is charged with a serious violation of the Animal Welfare Act, which is punishable by imprisonment for up to three years. He is also charged with violating the Firearms Act. 

The prosecuting authority has made  a reservation to file a claim for a ban on keeping dogs or animals, as well as confiscation of the weapons.

The case will be heard in Sogn og Fjordane District in the course of two days in October.
