A 51-year-old man must appear in court after being caught driving at a speed of 173 kilometers per hour in a 90-zone on E39 in Stavanger. He claims he was escaping from people who were chasing him.

According to the newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad, the case will start in Sør-Rogaland District Court in August.

The incident took place at 10:30 PM on March 28 last year.

“My client assumed that he was in a situation where he had to escape from people who, at best, tried to rob him,” the man’s defender, lawyer Odd Rune Torstrup, stated.

One day has been set aside for the processing of the case.
