A man in his 50’s from Troms has been charged with gross fraud against Nav after he wrongfully received over 175,000 Norwegian crowns.

According to the accusation, the man received the money by submitting a report stating that he was not working, despite receiving a salary from an employer, NRK writes.

Security fraud is a major problem for Nav. Last year, they estimated that they deliver between 1,000 and 1,500 reports of social security fraud a year and that almost 8 billion Norwegian crowns are lost due to fraud annually.
