A man in his 50s is charged with attempted murder and inflicting bodily injury after he attacked two people with a knife in Bjørnevatn in Sør-Varanger in January last year.
A man and a woman in their 80s were stabbed. The man was stabbed several times in the head and neck, while the woman was stabbed three times in the left arm.
According to the police, there is a close family relationship between the accused and the victims.
Prosecutors believe the man in his 50s was in a psychotic state when he committed the said acts of violence.
Therefore, the public prosecutors in Troms og Finnmark are filing a claim for a transfer to compulsory mental health care, according to the indictment.
