A lifeless man was transported to the hospital after being found in the sea at Odderøya in Kristiansand. The man has now been confirmed dead.

The deceased is a man in his 50s, living in Kristiansand. Relatives have been notified, the police told news bureau NTB.

Hikers found the man on the southeast side of the island. The police reported the incident at 12:36 PM on Saturday.

“There is nothing to indicate that there is anything criminal about this case. We will investigate to see where the man has been and whether he has been with others. So far, there is nothing to suggest that,” operations manager John Repstad in the Agder Police District told NTB.

An assessment will be made of whether the deceased should be autopsied to identify the cause of death.

The course of events surrounding the death is currently unknown to the police. The man was fully clothed when he was found lifeless in the sea.
