Man died after being caught in an avalanche in Aurland

A 38-year-old who was caught in an avalanche in Aurland in Sogn og Fjordane Sunday has died of his injuries, according to the newspaper Bergens Tidende.

The 38 year old was in the company of two other men when the avalanche struck. The three men were freeriding and the other two tour mates dug out the man after the avalanche had struck, according to Bergens Tidende.
First aid was performed onsite, in hopes of bringing him back to life, but they were not able to save his life,  the police said Sunday night.
The avalanche was at just before 14 o’ clock on Sunday.  Leader of operations Olaug Holme now warns against great danger of avalanches  in the mountains.
