A man who was rescued out of the river Gaula in Trøndelag with serious injuries on Friday, died at St. Olavs Hospital during the early hours of Saturday.
The man was being treated in the intensive care unit after being flown to St. Olavs Hospital with air ambulance, but he was unable to be saved. In the early hours of Saturday, the hospital told Adresseavisen that the man has died.
The man is not from Norway and he suffered very serious injuries and his condition was unstable when he was picked up out of Gaula at Støren in Trøndelag Friday afternoon. The salmon fisherman was rescued by witnesses who saw him in the water.
The police have not come into contact with any witnesses who may have seen where the man was fishing from and where he may have lost his footing.
