The Asker and Bærum District Court believes that the man in his 20s carried out two attempted murders in Asker but did not sentence him to prison or mental health care.

Asker and Bærum District Court concluded that the man was psychotic at the time of the crime and that he was thus not criminally sane, newspaper Budstikka writes.

The man has already received long-term treatment for his illness, and an expert said that he was probably as treated as he could be.

The court thus concluded that there is no danger of recurrence, and that it would not be necessary to transfer the man to compulsory mental health care.

The incident took place in September 2018. The man broke into a house in his own neighborhood where he stabbed a woman and her son.
