A man in his 40s has been sentenced to 11 months in prison for defrauding the NAV of NOK 1.3 million. This is the third time the man has been convicted of such fraud.

In a press release, the police in Oslo stated that the man had reported incorrect information to NAV between 2016 and 2021.

Among other things, the man failed to provide information about approximately 2,850 working hours, as well as long-term stays abroad. Based on the incorrect information, NAV paid out unemployment benefits of approximately NOK 1.3 million, to which he was not entitled.

This is the third time in seven years that the man has been sentenced to prison for unlawful receipt of unemployment benefits from the NAV.

He was also convicted of similar offenses in 2015 and in November last year.
