A man in his 60s has been confirmed as dead after falling through the ice at Nessundet on Lake Mjøsa on Friday morning.

The police were notified of the incident at 10:04 AM after a report from Nessundet.

Nessundet is located between Helgøya and the peninsula Nes in Ringsaker Municipality.

In the wake of the accident, the police are now warning people to stay away from ice on Lake Mjøsa and other lakes.

The mild weather has led to a mixture of weaker ice, surface water, and open areas. The safety of walking on ice can be difficult to assess due to these conditions. Therefore, don’t go out on the ice, the police wrote on Twitter.
