A 26-year-old man is accused of killing his 62-year-old father on Friday. The police found the 62-year-old seriously injured in a house in Tromsø, and he died from the injuries.

The 26-year-old was arrested outside the home. The arrest took place without incidents, the Troms Police District announced.

The police seized a knife that they assumed was used during the attack. The accused is known to the police from before.

“Experts have been appointed to clarify the accused’s mental health condition. The accused is taken care of by mental health care services,” the police noted.

Not questioned

The police planned to interrogate the accused man on Saturday but weren’t able due to the man’s state of health.

The police are requesting four weeks of custody for the man, two of them with a letter and visit ban.

Violent quarrel

The police want to get in touch with two young women.

The police moved out after a report of a violent quarrel at a private address south of Tromsøya a little after 9 PM on Friday.

At the scene, they discovered what was first described as a serious incident of violence, which is now being investigated as a murder. Several witness interviews have been conducted.

The local newspaper in Tromsø writes that there were several witnesses to the incident and that several neighbors contacted the police.
