A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to imprisonment for one year and ten months for having shot a woman in the eye. She was placed on 100 percent disability due to the incident.

The shooting episode occurred in May of 2013 at Høybråten in Oslo. The then 22 year old woman and her sister had met the man at a pub and went with him to Høybråten.

The man in court testified that he did this under the influence of alcohol and other substances, he does not remember much from that day, but he testified that a few days before he had found the gun and cartridges in the woods.

The man has admitted that the gun went off because he pulled the trigger, but he did not know why he did it and can not remember if he pointed at the woman with the weapon.

The sister of the woman who was hit by the shot, testified that the man took out the gun, playing and joking with it and swung it around his finger.

The court believes the man has acted with gross negligence, but there are mitigating circumstances. The man has confessed and admitted guilt.

The man is ordered to pay the woman just over 2.4 million NOK.
