A 47-year-old man has been sentenced to twelve years in prison for killing his mother in an apartment in Oslo in September last year.
According to Oslo District Court, there were several aggravating circumstances – and the man has to go to prison for twelve years.
The man admitted that he committed violence against his mother and confirmed the connection between himself and the act but denied criminal guilt. He testified that he does not remember a large part of the course of events.
Drunk
Both the man and his mother were very drunk when they ended up in a fight in an apartment after a trip to the city in September last year.
The man himself went to the health service the next day to receive treatment for his injuries and then expressed worries about his mother’s condition.
She was found dead in the apartment. The verdict states that she was severely beaten.
The man has explained that he has had major substance abuse problems, and he underwent a complete forensic psychiatric observation. It was concluded that he could not be declared insane.
