A man has been arrested after he deliberately set off a fire alarm at Stavanger Airport in Sola to catch a plane, police say.

– The man was taken off the plane and the flight left without him. He was taken to the Stavanger police station, the Southwest Police District writes on Twitter.

– “Those who were at the gate saw him do it. He is now on his way here and where he will have to clarify why this happened,” says operations manager Rune Tallaksen to Dagbladet.

Police were notified of the incident at 8.40am.

Police wrote on Twitter that the entire airport was evacuated and that the fire department had a full emergency response, but that it was all clarified within 10-15 minutes. The incident has not caused any delays in air traffic.

The man was to fly with Wizzair to Szczecin in Poland.
