Due to the pandemic, many people did not renew their passports when they expired. Now there are long waiting times in several Norwegian cities.

In Oslo and Trondheim, it is estimated that more than 50,000 passports have not been renewed through the pandemic, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) writes.

About half of these cases involve children under 18, as their passports are valid for a shorter period. But now, many people want to renew their passports, as the corona restrictions have been eased.

Elisabeth Lund from the Oslo Police District asks people to be patient if there is no free appointment for the renewal of their passports in the near future.

“We create new appointment opportunities every day depending on capacity and cancellations… I recommend checking availability multiple times,” she said.

The recommendation is to follow the police’s website.
