This spring, Norwegian beaches is most likely to get a record number of participants to clean debris and waste.

– Last year, more than 19,000 people participated. This year our goal is to get at least 25.000 participants, says Malin Jacob, project manager of Keep Norway Clean.
Several companies and organizations are signing up as supporters and mobilizing their own employees and customers. One of the companies participating, the cottage lessor company, Novasol, will send all its participants one cleaning package before the day of action on 7 May.
Beach Clean Day is part of an international volunteer work project which has been going on for many years, with origins in the American organization, The Ocean Conservancy. Until now, nearly ten million people in more than 150 countries have participated. Compared with other European participating countries, Norwegian volunteers make a tremendous effort.
– We are one of the three countries with the most participants, so this is becoming a real people’s movement, Malin Jacob says.
