Masud Gharahkhani has been nominated by the Labor Party (AP) as the new President of the Norwegian parliament (Storting), sources told several Norwegian media.

The Labor Party will meet at 9 AM for a group meeting in the Storting to elect the party’s new candidate for the position of Storting president. According to DN, VG, and NRK, Gharahkhani will get the nomination.

According to NRK, the Labor Party will announce the name of the candidate before the Storting convenes at 10 AM.

Former Storting president Eva Kristin Hansen (AP) announced her resignation after the newspaper Adresseavisen revealed last week that she may have received commuter housing from the Storting without being entitled to it in the period from 2014 to 2017.

On Tuesday, Hansen formally announced her resignation.

Gharahkhani is a parliamentary representative for Buskerud. He is from Skotselv in Øvre Eiker, and he has had a permanent seat in the Storting since 2017.
