Minister: Five posted workers at the Norwegian Embassy in Kabul have been returned to Norway

Five posted workers at the Norwegian Embassy in Kabul have been returned to Norway, Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide (H) confirmed on Wednesday.

On Wednesday afternoon, Foreign Minister Eriksen Søreide met with the media and shared new information about the evacuation from Afghanistan.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that they had evacuated 14 Norwegians and one foreign citizen with legal residence in Denmark from Afghanistan in a Danish plane from Islamabad in Pakistan.

The plane took off from Islamabad in Pakistan at 21 o’clock Tuesday night Norwegian time with the 15 people on board. Pakistan is assisting in the evacuation of Danish citizens and Afghans who have worked for Denmark.

Chief of Defense Eirik Kristoffersen confirmed on Monday that all Norwegian embassy personnel from Kabul had been evacuated.
