On Monday, the Norwegian government will announce new corona measures. As the infection situation in the country continues to be challenging, even stricter measures could be introduced.

From Monday, January 18, at 5:00 PM, the Norwegian government will introduce mandatory testing at the border for people who have stayed in areas that require them to go into obligatory quarantine.

Furthermore, all people caught traveling to Norway with false COVID-19 tests will be expelled from the country, Minister of Justice and Emergency Management Monica Mæland warned.

“People who are caught with false COVID-19 tests will be expelled from Norway,” Mæland said.

Directorate of Health: Large number of fake corona certificates

Foreign travelers to Norway must present a certificate of a fresh negative corona test upon arrival. A Norwegian Directorate of Health report shows that many present a false certificate.

The certificates must show that one has tested negative for COVID-19 within the last 72 hours before arrival. However, the Norwegian Directorate of Health believes that the certificates have little value, newspaper VG reports.

Many false certificates are being reported, and this uncertainty is a challenge throughout Europe, Assistant Director of Health Espen Nakstad noted.

“We do not have an overview of how many certificates are false, because there is generally great uncertainty about the authenticity of many of these certificates,” Nakstad said.

A spokesman for the European Commission has informed news bureau NTB that work is now being done to introduce a common European system with so-called vaccine passports – certificates that the corona vaccine has been taken.
