Seasonal workers who cannot return home due to corona restrictions in their home country can stay in Norway for the rest of the year.

Seasonal workers have previously been able to extend their stay in Norway until September 2021.

“Some of those who are in Norway as seasonal workers are not allowed to return to their home countries due to local entry restrictions.

“In such cases, it is right and reasonable that they can have the opportunity for an extended stay in Norway,” Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Torbjørn Røe Isaksen (H) stated in a press release.

It is not yet possible to apply for an extension, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs stated. However, once the regulatory change has been adopted, the UDI will publish further information on how to proceed to apply for an extended residence permit under the scheme.
