EU tourists will be released from quarantine when entering Norway when the European corona certificate is in place, Minister of Health Bent Høie (H) said on Wednesday.

“Norway’s starting point has always been that we want to be part of a common European solution,” Høie said at the government’s press conference on the corona situation on Wednesday.

On the same day, it was announced that the EU is on track to get the corona certificate scheme in place from July 1. The certificate will exempt travelers from quarantine, isolation, or testing requirements when traveling to other countries in the Union.

“The prerequisite is that we are able to check the QR code at the border. We are working on it. Our ambition is to have in place at the turn of the month June/July,” Høie added.

“It will also require a number of regulatory changes, and they will also be considered.”
