The Taliban say that all foreigners and Afghans with travel documents from the United States, Norway, and many other countries will be allowed to leave Afghanistan, according to a statement from the US authorities and more than 100 other countries.

“We have received assurances from the Taliban that all foreigners and all Afghan citizens with travel documents from our countries will be allowed to travel out of the country,” the statement said.

The statement also notes that the Taliban have also issued public statements confirming the news. The statement also mentions Afghans who have worked with some of the countries or who fear for their lives under the Taliban.

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the statement.

“We hope that the civilian airport can eventually open and that there will be civilian flights so that Afghans can leave the country safely. We gave a clear message to the Taliban – those who want to do so must be allowed to travel safely,” Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide said on Helgemorgen at P2 this weekend.
