Vaccine manufacturer Moderna plans to invest around USD 500 million to build a plant in Africa to produce mRNA vaccines.

The goal is for the factory to produce up to 500 million doses of mRNA vaccines each year, including the corona vaccine, according to the news agency Reuters.

On Thursday, the company stated that it would soon begin the process of choosing a country where the factory would be built.

To date, less than 4% of Africa’s population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
