The American Moderna Group’s corona vaccine will be approved in the EU on Monday, Sweden’s vaccine coordinator Richard Bergström said.

According to Bergström, the first doses will arrive in Sweden within two weeks.

The European Medicines Agency EMA was scheduled to give the go-ahead on Wednesday, but the assessment has gone faster than expected, SVT reports.

“There is no reason to wait. The recommendation comes on Monday morning, and a couple of hours later, it will be formally approved by the EU Commission,” the vaccine coordinator told the channel.

Norway has secured 1.9 million doses of the Moderna vaccine.

Pfizer and Biontech’s corona vaccine has already been approved for use in the EU and Norway, and the vaccination is underway.
