In total, more than 126,600 vaccine doses were thrown away in Norway in 2021, according to a survey conducted by TV 2.

The most common reasons for the disposal of vaccines were expiration date, particles in vials, lack of attendance, and broken vials, among others, according to the channel.

“The figures presented by TV 2 show that waste of doses sent out in the Norwegian vaccination program is just under 1%,” assistant director Geir Bukholm at the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) noted.

302 of the country’s 356 municipalities have answered TV 2’s questions about how many vaccine doses they threw away last year.

  1. A factor to consider in this is the brand of the vaccine.
Pfizer seemed to have a better reputation – maybe it was milder? – than Moderna, let alone AstraZeneca, which had to be re-named and seemed to be dumped off on 3rd world countries.
In Enebakk Kommune we were given a choice, and if we wanted Pfizer, we were given a yellow Post-It to give to the (wonderful) nurse giving the shots.
    A LOT of yellow Post-Its. 🙂
