More than half of people injured in electric scooter accidents in Oslo on weekends were drunk

According to Oslo University Hospital, a total of 55% of people injured in electric scooter accidents in Oslo on weekends were under the influence of alcohol. In June, there were 421 accidents.

In June, for the first time, there were more electric scooters injuries than bicycle injuries. The average age of injured people in June was 27 years, while the average age since April 2019 is 30 years.

So far this year, there have been 856 injuries involving electric scooters.

On Tuesday, chief physicians Henrik Siverts, Tina Gaarder, and Pål Aksel Næss from Oslo University Hospital presented updated statistics on treated injuries as a result of the use of electric scooters in Oslo.

They recommend that the rental of electric scooters be stopped between 11 PM and 5 AM.
