A 47-year-old man has been sentenced to seven years in prison by the district court for several assaults on his daughter. He plans to appeal the verdict.

The court concluded that the offenses the man was charged with should result in a sentence of seven years in prison. The daughter was only six years old when the first abuse took place, and since then, the father had abused her 3-4 more times, according to the verdict.

In court, the father went to great lengths to place part of the blame on the girl, claiming that the two assaults he had admitted to had no particular detrimental effect on the daughter. The judges saw this as aggravating circumstances.

The man’s defender, lawyer Sille M. Heidar, thought that a sentence between three and four years was appropriate. After the sentence of seven years in prison and reparation of NOK 300,000 was handed down, the lawyer told the newspaper Moss Avis that it would be appealed.
