Mother and three daughters from Syria died after a fire in Bergen on January 4

A 7-year-old girl died Tuesday afternoon from the injuries she sustained in the housing fire in Ytrebygda, Bergen on January 4. The fire has thus claimed four lives.

This is what West police districts say in a press release.

Three girls aged 7, 9 and 14 and their mother (41) have died as a result of the fire in Bergen on Saturday.

The fire broke out at 06:45 in one part of a semi-detached house in the district of Ytrebygda, near Flesland in Bergen.

A family of seven, two adults and five children, lived in the home. The children are aged 7 to 18 years. The family is originally from Syria.

The parents and four of the children were home when the fire broke out. The mother and three of the children were unconscious when taken out of the home.-

Terribly sad

On Sunday, it was known that the nine-year-old girl died, night to Tuesday the mother died and the 14-year-old girl, and on Tuesday afternoon, police report that the 7-year-old girl also died from the injuries she sustained in the fire.

The 14-year-old girl was a student at Ytrebygda secondary school. They held a gathering for the students on Tuesday morning.

– “This goes into the whole community. The entire local community is affected. It was a terribly sad message to get. This is a school in mourning,” says communications adviser Toril Berle Schalck in Bergen Municipality to NTB.
