The mother of an eight-year-old Czech girl is suspected of having sold the daughter of a woman in Malmö, the newspaper Sydsvenskan writes.
The girl is now in the care of the Swedish authorities after being found in an apartment in Malmö.
The Swedish social services believe this is a case of human trafficking. The mother herself lives in Austria and denies that the child has been sold.
The suspicion has not yet been confirmed by the police, according to Sydsvenskan.
The girl, a Czech citizen, came to Malmö from Eastern Europe only a few months old, without a guardian. A few years later, the girl was placed in an emergency protection home after a report of abuse.
