On Friday night, two caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad were hung on windows of the Bergen mosque.

The drawings were discovered just before 6 o’clock on Friday morning, according to newspaper Bergens Tidende.

Chairman of the board Badreddine Maizi at the Bergen mosque reported the matter to the police.

The police have been on site, and the drawings were removed.

According to the newspaper, a police lawyer is assessing whether the act is a violation of regulations that govern the illegal erection of posters on other people’s property.

“This is a direct invitation to Muslims in Bergen to be provoked. But we must not be provoked. We want dialogue,” Maizi said.
