At least 17 stores in Denmark are defying the corona restrictions. They plan to reopen from Monday. The reopening is probably organized via Facebook.

The website Danmark Vågner posted an overview of the shops that will open their doors.

On Friday, the newspaper Politiken wrote about a Facebook group that organized the reopening. The group has been closed in the meantime.

The shop owners risk a fine of 5,000 Danish kroner. The organization SMVdanmark, which represents small and medium-sized companies in the country, warns against defying the authorities’ corona restrictions.

“Suicide is never the solution,” CEO Jacob Brandt noted.

Still, he understands that small business owners can become desperate after many weeks of shutdowns and lack of revenue.

According to Denmark’s current corona rules, stores have to remain closed until February 28.
