Several tombstones in the Muslim section of the cemetery in Kragerø were vandalized last week.
Three of grave monuments were torn up on Friday, while tomb stones at a fourth grave was ripped up, stated the newspaper Varden.
Both churchwarden Anne-Mette Bamle and Palestinian Abdal Rahman Hadid’s family have reported the vandalism. Other tombstones outside the Muslim area have been left in peace.
– A grave is very sacred to Muslims, and I think all surviving relatives. It was a painful sight that met visitors of the vandalized graves on saturday Saturday. “…..It has been here at the burial place of my mother since she died in September last year”, says Hadid son of Sabri one of the victims of the vandals.
Police take a serious view of the case and started an investigation.
