In the last 24 hours, 1,093 new corona infection cases have been registered in Norway. Assistant health director Espen Rostrup Nakstad says Norway is in the fourth wave of infection.

“We are definitely in the fourth wave of infection now, but the vaccination means that we currently do not have a large increase of hospital admissions.

“Nevertheless, it is important to stay in control so that few people become infected and that the admission numbers don’t increase a lot,” Nakstad told the newspaper Dagbladet.

The highest number of infections in one day during the pandemic was registered on March 22 this year, when the FHI reported 1,107 new corona infection cases.

On Wednesday, a total of 56 patients with coronavirus were admitted to Norwegian hospitals, according to the Norwegian Directorate of Health.
