“A fourth vaccine dose will certainly be offered – the only question is when,” assistant health director Espen Nakstad says.
“Should we offer it now at the end of a big wave of infection, or should we wait until the next winter season? We must find the best time to offer it. Difficult assessments must be made by the various public health institutes in different countries,” Nakstad told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).
Nakstad says that the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) assesses the need to offer the fourth dose on an ongoing basis.
There is already a recommendation for a fourth dose of the corona vaccine for anyone with a weakened immune system.
Sweden
In Sweden, a fourth dose was first recommended for those over 80. Now it’s also recommended for people over 65.
“The countries that were the first to recommend a third dose are also the first to recommend the fourth, such as Israel,” Nakstad said.
