The new virus variant, which has been detected in southern Africa, among other places, will not necessarily make people sicker, but it is more contagious, Espen Rostrup Nakstad says.

” It does not necessarily mean that you will get sicker or that the vaccine does not work. But people are a little worried about whether the vaccine is as effective,” assistant health director Espen Rostrup Nakstad said.

“This is a variant that has been mapped best in South Africa, where it has spread, especially among students. In the course of 14 days, they will have mapped this even better, and then we will be able to say more about it,” Nakstad told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).
