In the first four months this year, 1185 people applied for asylum in Norway, according to figures from the Immigration Directorate (UDI).

In comparison, 2252 asylum seekers in total came to Norway in the same four months last year.
That means there is a decrease of almost 53 percent in the number of asylum seekers so far this year compared with the same period last year.
The largest proportion of asylum seekers this year are from Syria (200), Afghanistan (186) and Iraq (95). 46 of the asylum seekers have claimed to be stateless, according to UDI.
