In the next few weeks, communion will not be held in the Church of Norway’s Christian worship in Bergen, Oslo, Asker, and Bærum.

The ban comes as a result of the tightening of the infection control rules in Oslo and Bergen, according to newspaper Dagen.

“When people are going to sit in fixed places, you can’t have movement in the room.

“We will be in solidarity with the instructions given by Bergen municipality,” bishop Halvor Nordhaug in Bjørgvin told the newspaper.

Bishop Nordhaug and Oslo Bishop Kari Veiteberg made the decision to cancel the communion.

In Oslo, the ban applies until December 6.

Bergen hopes to get back to normal activities by the first Advent Sunday, on November 29.
