New coronavirus variant detected in Denmark

The coronavirus variant BJ. 1 has been detected in Denmark, the country’s health minister announced.

The variant was discovered for the first time in India three months ago.

The Danish Minister of Health, Magnus Heunicke, says that it was expected that the variant would come to Denmark. At the moment, the health authorities in the country are not concerned about the situation.

Heunicke says that the significance of the new mutation is not known. Furthermore, it is unknown whether the infected persons contracted the disease in Denmark or other countries.
