In the last 24 hours, 15,987 corona infection cases have been registered in Norway. That is 4,162 more than the same day last week and the country’s highest daily number of new cases so far.

In the last seven days, an average of 11,774 corona infection cases have been registered per day. The corresponding average seven days ago was 7,356, so the trend is rising.

On Wednesday, 240 corona patients were hospitalized in Norway – two more than the day before. Out of the total, 72 patients were in intensive care, and 47 of them were on respirators, according to the Norwegian Directorate of Health’s overview.

Daily record also registered on Wednesday

A total of 554,778 people have now tested positive for corona in Norway, according to the National Institute of Public Health (FHI). The previous 24-hour record was set on January 19, 2022, when 15,367 infected people were registered.

“This shows that the infection is still rising in Norway, but not as sharply as two weeks ago,” assistant health director Espen Rostrup Nakstad told NTB.
