In the last 24 hours, 150 new COVID-19 infection cases have been registered in Trondheim. That is the highest number of infection cases in one day in the Municipality so far in the pandemic.

In addition, approximately 100 positive rapid tests have been reported, which will now be followed up with a PCR test, the Municipality stated on Thursday.

Out of the total, 115 of those infected are in their 20s. Trondheim Municipality has recently struggled with a lot of corona cases, especially among people in their 20s. On Tuesday, it became known that at least 250 students from 56 fields of study in the city had been diagnosed with coronavirus – and the number is rising.

Mass testing of students

On Tuesday, the Municipality started mass testing 35,000 students for corona. Students have been given self-test kits. If the test is positive, the student must contact the infection control office to get an ordinary corona test.

On Thursday, the Municipality started distributing equipment for so-called saliva tests. People who have symptoms possibly related to corona or people who need a test to exit quarantine will get access to such tests.

A total of 1,160 people in Trondheim tested themselves for corona on Wednesday.
