New outbreak in Nordre Follo: A total of 29 people infected at Tårnåsen school

14 new corona cases have been detected at Tårnåsen school in Nordre Follo. The Municipality suspects several cases of mutated coronavirus.

On Thursday evening, many new infection cases were reported in connection to Tårnåsen school. 

In total, there are now 29 infected people connected to the school, Nordre Follo Municipality wrote in an update on Friday morning.

In a press release on Thursday afternoon, the Municipality announced that 15 cases were registered.

“There is a strong suspicion that this is an outbreak of the English variant. This has been communicated to the National Institute of Public Health (FHI), and samples from the outbreak will be given priority. We hope we get the test results in a few days,” the Municipality added.

Seven deaths

All students at the school will follow classes from home on Monday.

There have also been registered infection cases at Hellerasten school and Østli school.

On Thursday night, it was reported that two elderly people in the Municipality who were infected with corona had died. 

One person died at Langhus center on Wednesday night. That was the seventh death in connection with the ongoing outbreak of infection at the nursing home.

An elderly corona-infected resident who was hospitalized also died on Wednesday.
