New power line to electrify important ferry routes in Northern Norway
The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) approved the power line in Hamarøy Municipality, which will enable the electrification of the ferries from Bognes - the only ferry connection on the E6.
The power line from Ulvsvåg to Bognes will be approximately 16 kilometers long.
According to the NVE, a license has also been granted for a new transformer station at Bognes.
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration wants to make the ferry sections from Bognes emission-free. From Bognes, you can take a ferry to Skarberget (E6) and Lødingen (highway 85).
Before the start of construction, Kystnett must prepare an environmental, transport, and construction plan that the NVE must also approve.
